Baumüller to Showcase Latest Control Technology at Hannover Messe, Combining PC and PLC

The b maXX PLC, Baumüller's new breakthrough in hybrid PLC and PC technology, will be unveiled on April 12th at the Hannover Messe Digital Edition.

The Baumüller Group, headquartered in Nuremberg, is a German company that specializes in designing and producing industrial electric drive and automation systems.
The company, which was established in 1930, now employs over 1,900 people in over 40 locations around the world.

Baumüller is a top ten supplier of drive and automation engineering solutions and is ISO 9001:2015 certified.
Baumüller provides dive and power engineering, shaft maintenance, servo motors, AC/DC motors, generators, and transformers, among other services.
Installation, troubleshooting, repairs, remote diagnostics, updates, and motor oil processing are among their technical services.
PLCs, PCs, servo controllers, motors, and I/O controllers are among Baumüller's products.
The b maXX will make its debut at the Hannover Messe.

On April 12th, Baumüller will present its new developments in the PLC and PC industries at the Hannover Messe Digital Edition.
The new b maXX PLC is a hybrid of a PLC and an industrial PC that combines the benefits of both systems into a single device.

Since they read sensor data and provide output signals to power actuators, motors, indicators, and other systems, PLCs are critical components in industrial environments.
PLCs are reliable logic controllers that can meet strict timing requirements and react in real-time to signal changes, while PCs have a faster processing speed.
However, as IoT and predictive methods (e.g., AI) become more common in industrial applications, industrial processes using PLCs often require secondary processors (such as industrial PCs) to handle complex IIoT and AI tasks.
With more connections and controllers, the system's total cost rises, while its performance falls.

By integrating an industrial PC and a PLC into a single, compact DIN-mountable unit, Baumüller's b maXX PLC helps to solve this issue.

The device, which is operated by an Intel x86 processor, can handle the complex data analysis needed by many Industry 4.0 applications, such as predictive maintenance, as well as incorporate business models.

Furthermore, the controller's PC side will run a Windows operating system thanks to the x86 architecture.
This provides it with access to a large number of Windows application libraries as well as powerful programming frameworks like.NET.
Technical Specifications for b maXX

Although the b maXX PLC has not yet been released, some product information (primarily from the controller's PC side) are currently available.
The latest computer has a quad-core Intel Atom E3845 processor with a clock speed of 1.91GHz and 4GB DDR3 SDRAM.

For storage, the controller has 32GB of integrated eMMC FLASH memory and 128kB of non-volatile RAM (essential for power outages and configuration retention).
The device also includes HDMI type-C, IN and OUT connectors (for PLC), and 1000Mbit Ethernet, as well as a microSD card slot that supports up to 32GB of external FLASH storage (EtherCAT).

The stainless steel construction of the b maXX PLC ensures rigidity, and it is IP20 rated with dimensions of 110mm x 90mm x 35mm.
