Siemens Develops Modular Robotics System for Cosmetics & Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
"The Hyve," Simens' new autonomous modular robotics platform, is set to transform manufacturing as we know it. With the Hyve system expected to deploy to multiple cosmetics facilities by the end of 2020, Siemens describes the innovation as standing "head-and-shoulders above the competition" by helping to speed up chemical balance testing in shampoo. While the UK lags behind other European countries in industrial robotics adoption, Applied Scientific Technologies, a manufacturer based in Middlesborough, sees a huge potential for collaborative robotics in the cosmetics industry. "The speed of design, development and deployment into this market could not have been possible without...
Robotic Picking Technology Improves Supply Chain at GAP
By implementing Kindred's "Sort" industrial robotics system, retail giant Gap says it has improved its supply chain output. Using robotic arms manufactured by Fanuc, Gap is using AI and robotics "to solve complex fulfillment problems" in light of the surge in online commerce and the workforce disruption created by COVID-19. The company first installed the robotic picking system in 2017, hoping to speed up merchandise picking within its facilities. Between January and April of 2020, the system, which is AI-enabled, picked over 13 mil units at an average speed of 335 unites per hour. The system accomplished this feat while...
RMUS and Sarcos Robotics Develop Groundbreaking New Snake Robot
Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Rocky Mountain Unmanned Systems (RMUS) offers a variety of products to the commercial drone industry. Sarcos Robotics, which has spent over 25 years developing robots that assist human workers, is partnering with RMUS to develop an innovative new snake bot. The new robot was developed to inspect hard to reach or dangerous places, allowing the technician to drive the robot while staying out of harm's way. With many potential applications, the new robot has even been tested for use as a disinfection unit to aid in the COVID-19 epidemic response. As a robotic aid...
KUKA Robotics Deploys 50+ Robots for Automotive Production
KUKA and partners SAR Elektronic Gmbh are set to assist an unnamed German auto supplier in building production and inspection lines. The company plans to deploy about 50 bots to five fully-automated lines for inverters in the unnamed supplier's production facilities. The lines will include plasma cleaning and bonding processes robots, fully-automated handling machines, and an integrated functional inspection device. New Cell Development The SAR Group focuses on producing engineering services, and specializes in developing customized system solutions. In partnership with KUKA, the conglomerate created cells for the new inspection and production lines. KUKA robot in an SAR facility...
